Patalpuri Temple

Patalpuri Temple, located within the historic Allahabad Fort near the Triveni Sangam, is an ancient underground shrine steeped in mythological and spiritual significance. The temple is said to have been visited by Lord Rama during his exile and is home to idols of Lord Vishnu, Lord Rama, Sita, Lakshman, and other deities. Its location below ground level gives it the name “Patal” meaning underworld, reflecting deep spiritual symbolism in Hindu belief.

Patalpuri is also home to the revered Akshaya Vat (the indestructible banyan tree), which is believed to be eternal and holds immense significance for salvation seekers.
